Everest Trekking
The Everest Trek typically starts in Kathmandu with a coach trip to Jiri, followed by a week's trek to Lukla (2850 m). (If time is an issue, you can choose to fly straight to Lukla.) From Lukla you walk to the famous Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar and on to the Tengboche Buddhist Monastery, with its panoramic view of Everest (8848 m), Cho Oyu (8152 m), Lhotse (8516 m), Makalu (8463 m) and Ama Dablam (6456 m). Then it's across the glaciers to the foot of Mount Everest, and one of the most spectacular views of your life!
The Everest or Solu Khumbu region is the second most popular trekking area of Nepal. It would probably be the most popular destination, but it is more expensive and difficult to get to this region than to Annapurna area. To get near Everest, you most either fly to Lukla or walk for a week from Jiri. Solu khumbu is justifiably famous, not only for its proximity to the world's highest mountain, but also for its Sherpa villages and Monasteries. The normal goal of Everest trek is Everest Base camp but as people is not able to see Everest from Base camp, so most trekkers climb to Kalapathar or trek to Gokyo Ri.
